A public road in Jessamine County that goes right into the Kentucky River in the middle of Pool 8. There is limited parking here, and the parking area can be extremely muddy.
Safety Considerations: Check river levels before attempting to paddle the Kentucky River. Always wear a properly sized PFD/life jacket. Bring drinking water, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Trail Descriptions
Downstream: A more developed area of the river with many houses and docks. Its 3.4 miles down to the John Nickell Boat Ramp (6.8 miles round trip). Dam 8 is 9.5 miles down from the ramp (19 mile round trip).
Upstream: A fairly remote section of river. Silver Creek is less than a mile away on the right. If clear of deadfall, Silver Creek is navigable a little way. The Nicholasville Water Intake is 4.8 miles away (9.6 miles round trip), the Devil’s Pulpit area is about 5.75 away (11.5 mile round trip) and Pool 8 continues to Dam 9 which is 8 miles from the ramp (16 mile round trip).
Directions
From Nicholasville: Take KY 39 east at the courthouse. Veer left on KY 1541, then turn left on Hunters Ferry Rd all the way to the river.
Poosey Ridge Rd ramp is almost directly across the river in Madison County.
